Starting Over again – Mailing list – Part 2

Ethical Bribe, Free eBook, Free eCourse there are so many ways to do this….

The main point:

• You give the reader something of VALUE and they will give you their email address.

These days most people are careful about where they leave their email address… it is our personal and business integrity on the line, you NEED to be putting your best foot forward and making sure that you are providing something of high quality and valuable to the reader.

What are you offering?

• I highly recommend a special report 5-10 pages or a multi-day eCourse (5-7 messages).

Where do you find material?

• You write it – a little scary your first time out, but this option really allows the reader to get to know you. This is an important first step in the process of creating buyers.
• You find material that you have specific permission to use – if you have a friend or complimentary practitioner that is willing to share their material for you to give away. This creates a win/win for both people.

How do you share the material?

• Using your autoresponder service you can write the material right into the message.
• You can create pdf documents, upload them to your web server or you can add them as an attachment to the message.

Let’s step through the simplest option: 3-4 hours

1. create a word document 5 pages
2. turn this document into a pdf file
3. create a new autoresponder list (follow the instructions with your service)
4. create a new message, write a quick note and include the file as an attachment
5. create a webform (follow the instructions with your service) and put it on your website
6. Tell everyone you have a awesome report to share

My advice is take one step at a time and work it out.  ASK for HELP if you need it. DON’T get stuck on perfect, just get it out.  You can always tweak it as you go.   Here is my sample of this option: http://www.foundationcoaching.com/passions/

Here is a little more complication option: 6-8 hours

1. Create a 5- day eCourse in word, each day is their own document
2. Create pdf versions of each document
3. upload the pdf files to your web server
4. Create a new autoresponder list
5. create a message for each day, each message includes a short note and a link to download the pdf file.
6. Create a webform and put it on your website
7. Tell everyone you have a new eCourse to share

This takes a little longer as there is more prep work, but again the same advice. ASK for HELP if you need it. DON’T get stuck on perfect, just get it out.  You can always tweak it as you go.

Here is what I did:

1. create a 7 day ecourse – I don’t know about you, but I have SOOO much material on my computer, blog posts, classes, articles that I have already written. These can always be re-purposed to create a group of messages
2. create pdf’s for each – I took a little more time and put a nice cover picture on my – this certainly isn’t necessary, quality content should always be your focus
3. Uploaded my files to my web server
4. created a new list with my autorepsonder service
5. created 7 messages, I have set the interval between messages at 2 days
6. I created a little picture to represent the ecourse and added it with the form to my website.

Now while you COULD do this in one day, I recommend that you take a week, do 30-60 minutes at a time. This way you stay fresh and limit overwhelm.
